Properties of Integration

Fundamental Rules of Indefinite Integrals

Fundamental Properties

Property Name Formula / Result
Constant Multiple Rule
($$ k $$ is a constant)
$$ \int k \cdot f(x) \, dx = k \int f(x) \, dx $$
Sum & Difference Rule $$ \int [f(x) \pm g(x)] \, dx = \int f(x) \, dx \pm \int g(x) \, dx $$
Integration of 1 $$ \int 1 \, dx = x + C $$
Integration of Constant ($$ k $$) $$ \int k \, dx = kx + C $$
Integration of 0 $$ \int 0 \, dx = C $$
(Result is purely a constant)
